About Goli otok:

Situated in the middle of the Adriatic Sea, Goli otok is known for its harsh and barren landscape with minimal vegetation. Dubbed the "Croatian Alcatraz" due to its isolated location, Goli otok carries a heavy history as a political prison during former Yugoslavia. From 1949 to 1956, it housed opponents of Josip Broz Tito's regime. Prisoners faced strict rules, forced labor, and harsh conditions. After 1956, it served as a prison for criminals until 1989. Today, Goli otok is a popular tourist destination where visitors can explore abandoned prison structures and learn about its dark past.

About Sv. Grgur:

During former Yugoslavia, Sv. Grgur island served as a prison for political female inmates, subject to treatment similar to Goli otok. It boasts richer vegetation compared to Goli otok, known for its fragrant plants and indigenous bird species. Numerous archaeological sites on the island testify to its illustrious past. Today, Sv. Grgur is an ideal place for swimming and diving due to its beautiful beaches and clear waters. Enjoy the natural beauty of the island and relax in its serene environment, offering a break from everyday life.
